70 years of technological innovation: Phoenix Nirvana

Release time:Aug 27, 2019 Visits:

At the beginning of August, the C919 large passenger aircraft 104 aircraft successfully completed the first test flight mission, and will enter a new phase of intensive R&D flight test. At this time, from 1909, the father of China Airlines, Feng Ru, made China's first domestic aircraft, which has been around for a hundred years.

Time revolves until May 5, 2017, China's self-designed large passenger aircraft C919 successfully made its first flight at Shanghai Pudong International Airport. 724 cables, 2328 pipes, pipelines with a total length of nearly 80 kilometers, and a total of 2.5 million parts. The C919 is completely designed by China and overcomes the problem of system integration. The localization rate target is 10% from the beginning of the project. It has grown to nearly 60%. This scene still remembers the people of the country.

The C919 symbolizes the industrial strength of a rising superpower and his dream of leading a new technology era. From the difficult exploration of the "Yun Shi" in the 1970s, to the restart of the regional passenger aircraft ARJ21 and the domestic large aircraft C919, the domestic large aircraft has a dream for a hundred years, and finally welcomes the phoenix nirvana and the rejuvenating moment of the fire.

A total of dreams, every detail has a light

A prototype of Yun-10 was parked on the lawn of the Shangfei Pudong assembly base. The lacquered interior, the old seat, and the large jetliner built by the blue dragonfly on the road, record the hard history of the Chinese civil aviation to serve the country. In 1970, the central government launched the "708 Project" to develop the "June 10" large-scale jetliner. On September 26, 1980, the "Yun 10" aircraft successfully made its first flight at Shanghai Dachang Airport. However, the backward institutional mechanism of the domestic aviation industry and the development model of copying military aircraft prevented it from going to the market. "Yun Shi" was put on hold since 1983, and eventually it was grounded because of "no rice under the pot".

In 2007, the central government made a strategic decision: independently develop large aircraft!

At the beginning of the C919 project, Premier Li Keqiang set a basic principle for domestic large aircraft - independent design, system integration, global procurement, and gradually domestic production. Yuan Wenfeng, director of the C919 project office, said that the C919 has always adhered to the technical route of “independent research, international cooperation, and international standards”, and has overcome more than 100 core technologies including the integrated design of aircraft engines and the control laws of fly-by-wire control systems. technology.

Talking about C919, Fu Song, a professor at Tsinghua University who studies aerodynamics, said that God can be proud of it, and that success in the market requires a lot of independent intellectual property rights.

Compared to Airbus and Boeing's competitive models, the C919 reduces air resistance by 5%. "Flane, fuselage, empennage, engine, landing gear and other components layout, voyage, seat level parameters, as well as engine magnitude, power supply... The most critical part of the C919 joint concept design is completely designed by China." According to Chen Yingchun, the deputy chief designer of the project, the wing has been selected from the top 500 airfoil models designed by hundreds of domestic top experts. Bai Junqiang, a professor of aircraft design engineering at Northwestern Polytechnical University, who is involved in airfoil design, said that the design can only be explored by himself. After the success of C919, China has the same discussion table with foreign counterparts for the first time in aerodynamic shape design. .

15% of the C919 fuselage uses resin-grade carbon fiber material, which is the first large-scale use of this material for civilian large passenger aircraft, and the use rate of this material in traditional large passenger aircraft is only about 1%. This material is used in aircraft manufacturing, and the required docking accuracy is three to four orders of magnitude higher than the rocket. In the manufacturing process of C919, for the first time in China, the automatic docking of large parts was realized. Through the laser positioning and tracking method, the docking accuracy can be two orders of magnitude higher than in the past.

Light and shadow overlap, Chinese manufacturing will fly farther

To a higher degree, the aviation industry reflects the overall level of technology and manufacturing in a country. In the development of C919, 22 provinces and cities, more than 200 enterprises, and nearly 200,000 people participated in the research and production, which effectively promoted the formation of domestic civil aircraft technology innovation system. During the project development, each research unit carried out the static test of the strength of the flat tail section of the aircraft, the application research of the composite material structure repairing material, the runway identification technology of the wheel brake system, the test of the aircraft power system and the data processing system, the design of the supercritical wing, etc. More than 700 topics and technical research. In addition to the continuous formation of new civil aircraft technology achievements, supplementing and improving the civil aircraft technology system, it also promoted the construction and development of a number of professional disciplines such as aircraft design, aerodynamics and aircraft structural strength.

However, it is undeniable that the road to localization of key core components of large aircraft is difficult. The "heart" of a large aircraft - the manufacture of the engine and even mass production is difficult to achieve in the short term. In the first flight, the engine LEAP-X equipped with the C919 was developed by CFM International. There are 20-30 companies that can do aircraft in the world, but only 3-5 can do engines. In 2010, China has listed aviation engines as major national science and technology projects. In the field of aviation engines, China has invested at least 10 billion yuan every year.

The global large-scale civil aircraft industry has great potential. It is estimated that over the next 20 years, 35,000 large-scale civil aircraft will be delivered globally, with a minimum valuation of US$5 trillion. China will need about 6,000 new passenger and cargo aircraft, valued at US$945 billion, accounting for the total demand for new aircraft in the same period in the world. 18%.

The ultimate goal of the C919 is to enter the international market as soon as possible, enjoy the dividends brought about by the rapid development of civil air transport, and of course face the brutal competition with Boeing and Airbus. He Dongfeng, chairman of China Commercial Aircraft, said: "The manufacturing process of C919 must be customer-centric and meet the needs of customers. The process resources for its manufacturing come from all over the world, the market is global, and the competition is global."

Experts predict that by 2035, large aircraft will form a complete product chain. At that time, the passenger aircraft had been delivered to the users, the technical capability system, the production and operation mode were in line with the international advanced level, and the industrial growth stage was entered, and the industrial effect could be fully utilized. After ten years of grinding a sword, I believe that soon after the C919 will point the sword to the sky, and the international market to a future agreement!
